The visit of the Judicial Institute students to the Directorate of Forensic Evidence

The administration of the Judicial Institute, in coordination with the Directorate of Forensic Evidence in Baghdad, organized a field visit for 44 students from the 47th cohort of the Institute to closely observe the nature of work in each department of the Directorate. They were introduced to the work of the DNA laboratory, the chemical laboratory, the criminal weapons department, the manuscripts laboratory, the IAFIS department, the fingerprinting department, the criminal registration (identification) department, the crime scene unit, the sample receipt unit, the trace evidence unit, and the cybercrime unit. The Director General of the Judicial Institute pointed out that 'the Institute’s vision, following the directives of the President of the Higher Judicial Council, Judge Faiq Zidan, is to intensify fieldwork for the students in the Judicial Institute to align with their theoretical studies, which will enhance their skills in both the theoretical and practical aspects of judicial work.

A specialized lecture in coordination and cooperation with the British Embassy in Baghdad.

Approval has been granted by the honorable President of the Higher Judicial Council for the Judicial Institute to hold, on this day, Monday, 15/7/2024, and in coordination and cooperation with the British Embassy in Baghdad, a specialized lecture titled 'International Human Rights: A Comparative Perspective in Practical Application.' The lecture was delivered by the British legal expert, Mr. Fraser Hurst, and the target audience was the students of the Judicial Institute from the 48th Judge Training Course and the 49th Public Prosecution Training Course. The aforementioned lecture included many discussions and questions related to the topic, which greatly contributed to enhancing the legal knowledge and expanding the horizons of the Judicial Institute’s students. At the end of the lecture, the Director General of the Judicial Institute accompanied the lecturers on a tour through the corridors and halls of the Institute.

Meeting with the Students Admitted to Sessions (50 Judges) and (51 Public Prosecutors)

The Director General of the Judicial Institute, Ms. Faten Mohsen Hadi, met with the first-year students of the 48th cohort of the Judge Training Course. Ms. Faten Mohsen Hadi congratulated the students on the occasion of the new academic year at the Judicial Institute, wishing them success and encouraging them to uphold the responsibility of adhering to the Institute’s regulations and instructions, as they will become essential contributors to the Iraqi judiciary upon their graduation. She emphasized the commitment of the President of the Higher Judicial Council, Judge Dr. Faiq Zidan, to overcoming all challenges and providing a suitable learning environment for the students, particularly in terms of receiving both their theoretical and practical lessons. The Director General also highlighted the Institute's efforts to ensure these conducive conditions on all levels

The Judicial Institute holds a specialized lecture in the field of international law

With the approval of the honorable President of the Higher Judicial Council, a lecture was delivered today, Sunday, 26/5/2024, by British judge Sir Howard Morrison in the field of international law, its principles, and other related subjects taught to the students of the Judicial Institute from the 45th and 47th Judge Training Courses. This lecture is part of the ongoing cooperation and coordination between the Judicial Institute and the British Embassy in Iraq in the areas of training and capacity building. The lecture also included numerous questions and inquiries from the participants.

A workshop on (Commercial Arbitration) with students of the Judicial Institut

Continuing the specialized workshops aimed at explaining the concepts of commercial arbitration and the main provisions of the New York Convention, a specialized workshop was held today, Tuesday, April 23, 2024, in collaboration and coordination with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) for the 46th cohort of the Public Prosecution Training Course. The workshop was presented by Ms. Sofia Takimala Dze, Head of the Commercial Dispute Resolution Team at the UNDP, and Judge Taghreed Abdul Majid, First Instance Judge in Rusafa specializing in commercial cases. The workshop included numerous inquiries and questions from the participating students, which were addressed by the lecturers. The aim of the workshop is to enhance students' abilities in dealing with commercial disputes during their work in courts as public prosecutors.
